Nepal yesterday and today

This extraordinary trip shows you an authentic Nepal: In the historic ‘Durbar Squares’ of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur you immerse yourself in the history of the country, in the holy places Swayambunath, Bodnath, Pashupatinath and Namo Buddha in the spiritual world of Buddhists, Tibetans and Hindus. In the lowlands you will get to know the Tharu ethnic group, experience an unforgettable day with the majestic pachyderms in an elephant protection project and have breakfast in the jungle. The visits to various projects run by the Luxembourg NGO AEIN (Aide à l’Enfance de l’Inde et du Népal) are lastingly impressive: you will have the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with energetic and cheerful women, marvel at the digitalization of a village school, visit young wood carvers and take part in the inauguration of a new playground.

At the end of November, you can usually enjoy mild daytime temperatures of up to 20°C, a clear, deep blue sky and often an unobstructed view of the magnificent mountain world of the Himalayas. At night temperatures in the foothills can drop to almost zero degrees.

Françoise Binsfeld, Director of AEIN:

“We invite you to a journey to beautiful Nepal, where hospitable people, breathtaking nature and majestic mountains, rich cultural heritage and authentic encounters off the beaten path await you. A special highlight will be the inauguration of a playground in a remote school and interaction with members of a women’s cooperative.”

Important information

To enter Nepal, Luxembourgers and Germans require a passport that is valid for at least six months at the time of entry, as well as a valid visa. The passport must be in good condition and have at least two blank pages left. All Covid-19-related restrictions have currently been lifted. We would like to point out that this can change depending on the pandemic situation (as of February 2024).

During this trip you will move at altitudes between 200 and 2000 meters above sea level. There is a lot of walking in the old towns, Chitwan National Park and in the villages. On some days you will be driving off-road vehicles on rough roads. Therefore, good physical condition and an average level of fitness are required for this trip.

Almost all accommodations offer WiFi, although network coverage is not always perfect. Please note that many hotels and lodges only offer non-smoking rooms. If some of the accommodations we have booked are unforeseen to be unavailable, we will book a (preferably) equivalent alternative.

For air travel, our sales prices are generally based on special and tour operator tariffs of the airline(s) chosen for the relevant trip. The space available is therefore limited; additional charges are possible for bookings made three months before the start of the trip.

With the travel documents you will receive further information about the trip and the destination country.

No insurance is included in the travel price. We strongly recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance that includes Covid-19 as well as appropriate travel health insurance that includes treatment (including quarantine) for Covid-19.

This trip is not suitable for guests with mobility issues. If necessary, please tell us the type of mobility restriction you have before booking and clarify with us whether we can meet your individual needs.

Planet B is a brand of Bollig Tours s.à r.l.. Bollig Tours is therefore named as the organizer in our general travel conditions.
