Trifolion on tour: Puccini Festival (Turandot)
Experience culture liveDramatic like in the fairy tales from 1001 Nights: Many young men ask for Turandot’s hand in marriage. The beautiful but cold-hearted princess, however, gives each suitor three riddles – whoever cannot solve them must die. The Tartar prince Calaf is the only one who can solve the three riddles. In return, he asks whether Turandot can guess his name – if so, she can kill him. To learn the name, Turandot tortures Calaf’s slave Liu, who in turn sacrifices herself by suicide to protect her beloved prince.
Be there live when Giacomo Puccini’s last work (which he himself never finished), the opera “Turandot”, is performed at Torre del Lago, a small town in Tuscany, as part of this year’s Puccini Festival.
