Original villages and great natural landscapes, magnificent mountain panoramas, hospitable Albanians and North Macedonians, plus a pinch of history and many local specialties. This hiking trip takes you to the untouched mountain regions of eastern Albania, to small fishing villages and towns on Lake Ohrid and to the Galichica National Park in North Macedonia. You explore the historic towns of Voskopoje and Korçe, discover hidden Byzantine gems, visit the national shrine of Skanderbeg in the medieval mountain town of Kruja, the Neolithic settlement on Lake Ohrid and get to know the modern capital Tirana.
The 3-4* accommodations selected for this trip reflect the diversity of Albania and North Macedonia: friendly city hotels, a lovingly furnished guest house with warm-hearted hosts, an atmospheric boutique hotel in a former caravanserai and a small hotel on the picturesque Lake Ohrid.

Important information
To enter the country, Luxembourg citizens need a passport that is valid for at least three months at the time of departure. The passport must be in good condition and have at least one blank page left. German citizens can also enter the country with an identity card, which must also be valid for three months after the end of the trip. All Covid-19-related restrictions have currently been lifted. We would like to point out that this may change depending on the pandemic situation (as of January 2024).
This trip mainly includes moderately difficult hikes with constant ascents and descents. This requires sturdy hiking boots with a good profile that reach above the ankle and a small backpack to carry a windbreaker, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and a 1l water bottle. Hiking poles are useful for ascending and descending the sometimes uneven paths, but are not absolutely necessary. We cannot accept any liability for any hiking accidents.
The tourism infrastructure in Albania and North Macedonia is not yet perfect in all parts of the country. You can expect authentic insights into people’s everyday lives, genuine hospitality and breathtaking mountain landscapes.
Almost all accommodations offer free WiFi, although network coverage is not always perfect. Please note that the hotels and lodges only offer non-smoking rooms. Unless otherwise mentioned, the tour price is based on standard rooms. If some of the accommodations we have booked are unforeseen to be unavailable, we will book a (preferably) equivalent alternative.
For air travel, our sales prices are generally based on special and tour operator tariffs of the airline(s) selected for the relevant trip. Therefore space is limited and additional charges are possible. After your booking request, we will inform you in the event of an additional charge before sending the travel confirmation with the new price.

No insurance is included in the travel price. We strongly recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance that includes Covid-19 as well as appropriate travel health insurance that includes treatment (including quarantine) for Covid-19.
This trip is not suitable for guests with mobility issues. If necessary, please tell us the type of mobility restriction you have before booking and clarify with us whether we can meet your individual needs.
